If it's only your hands, then you are lucky. Nothing within a 3m radius of ours will rust.

    Identify this Fellows?

It's been a while since I've been inside one, but I seem to recall that there were only a couple interfaces that are affected and they have sliding couplers that allow for it.

I frequently wonder how people live with anything less than a 6" riser, so it's all perspective and whether it does the work you need it to, or not. Risers (while not blatantly in plain view) are available on the secondary market.

That book has caused me many, many, many sleepless nights.

In all honesty - it is designed ( and I know it will work** ) but I simply have not had time to make it, yet. ** - based upon the fact that I have made other "non-standard" gear and geometric shape ( hexagons, squares, etc... ) Shaping tools. The subject is one of the larger torments of mine...

;) The only obvious big deal with that machine is the lack of a riser. The good news is that you can find them. 7's are nice for non gear people because you can train a monkey to run them with little intervention required. So, they are handy. 7's are also still simple enough that there's just...

Because you have to traverse the saddle outward to cut Internals and this causes the spindle to "pre-load" along some of the rack teeth on the spindle, effectively removing some of the available stroke length. If you traverse the saddle back and forth, you will see the spindle move up or down...

Yep. It's the same. And yes, I feel the same way. One of the things that always strikes me is how complex the internals can be with numerous worms, wheels, diffs and direction changes, (in addition to the obvious change wheels) but all of that complexity results in such an eloquently simple...

I'm nowhere even near expert level, here. However, there's a bit more to it than just an eccentric allowing more offset. There is a finite amount of Rack on the spindle, mating with a small portion of Sector gear that drives it, and there is only so much distance between the two bronze bearings...

Early Haas VF machine - how many macro variables available for use from one program?

Okay, so theoretically we should have #800–#899 available. That would be plenty, I think. Starting at #800, I’m at #865 right now. Thank you.

It's not that it *lacks* anything, rather that there doesn't appear to be any indication of any of the numerous variants or specialized attachments that Fellows (or the aftermarket) offered throughout the years. I.E., taller riser blocks, adjustable riser blocks, various spindle options, rack...

Early Haas VF machine - how many macro variables available for use from one program?

Short version - I have a macro that I want to write for use on an early (90's) Haas VF. How many variables are available to us for use from a program? I don't recall which ones are available off the top of my head and for some reason I think I may need more than are available. Long version -...

Yep. 7 series. Looks like std machine. Looks like a 2" riser, from here. Nice machines when they are in shape. Vast majority have been neglected and abused. Don has/makes parts for them and is a WEALTH of knowledge regarding them.
