Hello, We bought a used DMTG 1440 Lathe recently and have what appears to be a factory taper attachment. It operates perfectly in manual mode.(when you crank the carriage by hand.) when you engage the power feed the taper attachment no longer works and the carriage and cross slide operate as they would if the attachment was disconnected. Any DMTG users out there that have suggestions? Thanks for you input.

Any pictures of the taper attachment? Detailed pictures of how you set it up would help a lot

Are you clamping the taper attachment to the bed before using it?
Yes we are. It operates perfectly in manual mode but not power feed. When you engage the power feed the taper attachment no longer works and the carriage and cross slide operate as they would if the attachment was disconnected.

That is strange that it works when you are manually running the carriage. There should be some mechanism, such as in the image Herding Cats sent, that will lock the taper slide to the bed. It wasn't clear in you pictures that there is anything holding the taper slide in place. You are either missing parts, or we don't have all the information.
