I don't like using G70. I don't have as much control of the Finish pass. Copy and paste the profile, then enjoy taper control, minor edits, etc.

I keep the taper pins after I remove them from EVERY slant, for quick close counts stuff. But dialing it back in isn't huge thing. Couple hours or less once you've done it 5-10 times. Unless the Hirth is damaged.

Really? You can add taper control (U, W) into the G71/G72 cycle and the G70 finish cycle will pick it up just fine. Minor edits too. I’ve even had a G70 cycle only finish parts of the G71/G72 cycle. Just pick the lines you want it to start and stop. The requirement for X and Z to be either continuously increasing or decreasing presents some limitations in grooving and reliefs, but that’s not difficult to deal with

Then I'm doing it wrong. I cannot, can NOT under any variation that I've tried, add a U value for taper to the defined profile.

And there are times that I don't want the basic roughing profile changed, but I do want the finish pass changed.

Well. I don’t know what to say. Maybe it’s a parameter setting. What control are you running? I’ve run OT (late 80’s) and Oi-TC ~2005 and have not run into an issue.

Jaas (spanish for Haas). Settings are for Fanuc. I understand they aren't exact, but no Fanuc control is identical.

I'll run into it and post a new topic later.
