Anyone use a cheater?

I'm seeing the same problems, the auto dark are nice in that you can dial the shade up/down.
However, light enough to see the surrounding (the weld joint) sometimes the arc itself is too brite.

I'm thinking we all have some cataracts.

Auto dark helmets never worked for me, the arc was too bright and it seemed like I got a little flash every time I started.I have 20-20 vision, one of my regular customers has me TIG weld parts, I use a shade 12 in a standard helmet, it’s dark, but IMO better on the eyes in the long run.
