I am trying to figure out the best way to program a rechuck. I want to machine the part and stick out to cut off location. Then bring in the sub and clamp. All straight forward so far. Not sure where to go from here though. At this point my sub is a slave to the main for my Z moves, so if I unclamp the main and move back, the sub will follow. The reason for this is my LNS hydro bar is leaving too long of a bar end. I should be able to get about 30 more parts out of each bar end., and I have alot of bar ends. Any example would be great.

Thanks

Sync with a wait code, then give your sub a W- move equal to the W- move you're giving the main. It'll move "negative" the same amount... But since the main is also moving, it won't move at all. Don't forget to use a G50 to tell the main and the sub where they're really at.

That seems a ton easier than anything I was thinking, and that would have never came to me on my own.

Thanks!!!

Make sure to program a dwell of at least a half second after each M6/M7 and M16/M17 during your rechuck. And depending on your barfeeder, don't do your rechucks at full rapid, program them as a feed, but it can be a high feed, like 300IPM. This also depends on your bar stock size.

Sounds like good advise. barfeeder is LNS Hydrobar, so it just pushes. Won't be using it as I run the ends though. This job is running mostly lights out, so just 2-3 footers left to finish off. But with a .300 part, that's alot of parts.

Thanks

It is a LNS Hydro bar with 6 tubes. I talked to a friend that said it is not meant for a sliding head stock machine, but for a lathe. It is what came with the machine, but the guy I bough the machine from did not use it (he just used 3' bars ). I put it in place and then figured out I need to move the whole thing closer to the machine so it can push further and give me shorter bar end. Waiting until the job finishes to get that done. I still think the bar end will longer than it should be though. This is the first job on this machine and I am already looking for another one to add. The next one WILL have a magazine bar loader!

On the FB Swiss Machining page there was a guy selling an L32 with barfeed for $125K rigged anywhere in the US. I dunno if it's still available, but I'll look for you.

I appreciate that teach, but I am still growing my shop while I work my day job, and that is a bit more than I can spend. I did get a deal on an old L25. With an LNS bar loader.
