Hi!

Suddenly pressing the reset button in the middle of program run. This machine doesn't have an automatic button to revert the tap when resetting the rigid tapping in middle. How is it possible to do it?

If there's no control function then you have to do it the old fashioned way.

Release the collet and back the turret away leaving the tap in the part, then unscrew the tap by hand. If it's a small tap this needs a very delicate touch! If it's a small, scrappable part, you can do it the other way round, release the part in whatever workholding and unscrew it off the tap and bin it.

Be aware that after you set it all back up again you won't be able to retap any already tapped holes or you'll bugger up the threads.

Most Fanuc mill controls have a tap recover option where go activate G84 in MDI and then when you move the MPG the spindle is synchronized to the axis. This was a Fanuc option and I do not know if it was available for lathes.
IME this option was rarely included in the builder’s standard specs and had to be customer spec’d at the time of machine order. Therefore few machines have the option.

My Mori with a Mitsu control included that function as standard. I’ve never used it for real, but tried it out to see how it behaved. It’s pretty cool.

If Doosan had an automatic tap revert button I wonder if it uses the Fanuc option. If it did, it's possible but unlikely that the controls come with the Fanuc option and the MTB implantation is an option.

Unlikely but something I would certainly check into prior to needing it. I know I have machines that have Fanuc options enabled that were not enabled on the MTB side.

/Swerve....
When turnkeying on a Customers Hori (Quaser with 16 control), it had the parameters set where the feed override worked for rigid tapping (obvs linked to spindle RPM).
REALLY nice option for prove out, compared to all the other machines I've been involved with or ran, where the program just ran at 100%.
This was after I sold up, so never dug to get my machines working....

My Robodrills have that tap recovery included.
Never had an urge to test it out.
Did once just loosen the collet and unscrew by hand.

I am quite sure that there has to be logic in the builder’s ladder logic to implement the function when using a Fanuc control. There is in a Mitsu implementation.

That's a neat option!

In 100's of thousands of CNC tapped holes I've never once pushed reset with a tap in hole though.
The only machine I had that could do that, I never needed it on!

But I have stopped tapping cycles midway a few times over the years, if there is a mistake in the program or the wrong tap is selected or whatever, sometimes you can save the part if you don't let the tap cycle complete.
