I need to reach about 8” (maybe a bit more) into a bore and do a lot of material removal around the outside of this part.
I bought a Dormer-Pramet 1.25” 6fl HF insert cutter and modified it as such.
the extension is 1”diam carbide round stock.
The brazing was finicky. The head made it move around on the shaft even with the counterbore.
it has about 15thou run out but I’ve been using it all day on the same inserts so it doesn’t seam to care much.
How can I hold the alignment better through the heating/cooling phase on the next one?

Try for a shrink fit between the head and the shank. Then cross drill it and braze in a pin to lock it together.
Or make a step bore in the cutter head so it shrink fits in the bottom and the step at the top allows space for the braze to flow.
