Holding off on the Fellows #7 purchase until I investigate a local Fellows Fanuc 10-4.
This is a significantly larger machine. 14K lbs VS 3500 lbs. Too big really for the area I have for it. But If I can get it for a good price I'm going to make the room it needs.
Has anyone programmed one of these? Is the code like lathe or mill or? I think this has a Fanuc 15B or 16 control on it. Looks middle 90's.
Is a CNC gear shaper like this as versatile as an old #7? Anyone know if you can use it like a slotter to single point keyways or even quick and dirty splines with a single point tool?
CNC could be a huge advantage or it could make it only good for production work depending what the CNC controls. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
