Ah, when I first joined PM i was working at a place where we machined nothing but plastic. Plastikdreams is a 90s edm song I liked...if fit together lol. I don't cut superalloy stuff unless it on the wedm. These days it's mainly 2024 or tool steel. :)

People we're writing songs about wire machines in the 90's? I suppose they would dream of cutting plastic - except for that whole conductivity thing... But, I digress...

I can’t knock welded frame machines. All Cincinnati Areow series I and II were weldments made in Birmingham England and I had a dozen or so from 750’s to 1500’s and they were every bit of a top tier machine.
Cincinnati made weldment machines in the 80s also. I had 2 10VC-1250s like that. I believe the big 20VC machines even the 5 axis head machines were weldments also. I never had similar size casting machines to compare them to so can't opine on ridgidity. I was told they were built in the Heald plant in MA.
