Bought a MV Jr awhile back for pennies Yasnac MX 2 control. Worked through a couple issues, the solenoid for the ATC rotation was leaking and the was the reason I didn’t see it tool change when I bought it. Got that fixed. Then the spindle orientation pin wouldn’t engage, turned up the pressure to that and it’s fixed. A “T” command will cycle to a pot but an M6 will cause user message 14 which is not in the Mori book, also Yasnac alarm 250. The machine needs a safe tool change to clear the sheet metal, it wants Z home which it is. Book says minimum Y-100mm and it’s hand written on the cover to place and Y-6. in machine absolute for ATC function which it is. The alarm it telling me it’s not in the correct position though and the manual doesn’t offer anything further. I know this is a machine from a generation ago but any of you guys remember this happening? Thank You D8B669F9-7A75-4888-A6B8-59CACE5B9925.jpeg

G30 Y0 Z0 moved the machine to a place that would be safe to perform a tool change (not far from where I had it). However it still gave the same alarm. Any other thoughts?

I had a slightly larger Mori MV that with a Fanuc on it.

Is the toolchanger hydraulic?

Are all the prox switches that are supposed to be on, on? Are the off ones off?

The early Mori hydraulic arm changer had a hidden operation inside a cylinder called "rack return" that had to happen otherwise the toolchanger wasn't ready.

Is there a prox switch for orient/shot pin?

Is the microswitch on top for tool clamp on?

Wherever it stops is where I'd be looking for a missing signal to the control.

The MV-JR is a cam system driven by an electric motor. Totally different than the hydraulic style.

@OP; Did you see the machine do toolchanges before you bought it? IIRC, the MV-JR just needed to be at the G30 position in Y and Z to toolchange. Maybe it needs to be at G30 X0 also. If that’s not it then it’s going to be down to reading the ladder to see what all drives the alarm 14. It’s been so long since I worked on an MV-JR that much of what I recall is pretty foggy. I don’t recall the 250 alarm showing up on an M6.

I did not see it tool change when I bought it. It was in an old timers garage that wasn't very proficient with CNCs, so when air started pissing out one of the solenoids he just unhooked the air and ran it one tool at a time, the little that he did use it.

The orient proxy I know is working because it has an idiot light. The others I'll have to figure out which Diagnostic bit they are on. So I guess at this point it's time for me to dig into the ladder. Which I'm not very good at, but only one way to learn eh?

So, it turns out the ladder book I have is for a Fanuc machine. I didn’t notice right away because the book just says Mori Seiki it’s not glaringly obvious which control it’s for. It also came with a 10M manual so it must have came from a company with multiple machines with each control and shit got mixed up. Now my problem is I can’t find a used one for sale or a PDF to download. Any suggestions? Would DMG Mori still have a PDF for this dinosaur?

Get ready for a credit check and to send a picture of your business card before DMG will deal with you.

I called about some Hitachi documentation, they wanted to run a credit check so I asked what the charge was for the documents to which they replied there was no charge for the info........to which I inquired the reason for a credit check for a free service.....

My credit is fine, it's just a pet peeve of mine where I refuse to waste my time filling out credit apps since I do not use terms.

Must be sort of recent change. About 3 years ago I asked for information on the undocumented parameters that apply to the graphic touchscreen and conversational programming functions on my Mori. They did not ask for a credit check. They did ask for the s/n, an image of a business card, and an address so they could update their records of the ownership.

Ultimately they were not able to dig up anything that I didn’t already have ☹.

Ages ago I called Takisawa tp see if they had the 9000 parameter list to my machine. They wanted $300 to register the machine in my name before they would even check to see if it was available. I told them to pound sand.

I have had some success with getting a “registration” fee waived by having a conversation with the sales rep for the brand in question. Something along the lines of “if you can get this fee waived, I’d be more likely to consider this builder for future purchases”.

Worst they can do is say no.
