I am almost ready to power up my Okuma Cadet lathe I bought this winter. The electrician needs a few more things to finish connecting the machine up. I am looking forward to getting the machine useable. It has a 5020 control which is a bit older than what I have used but I think I'll handle it just fine. This is my 1st CNC at home and so I will need to start collecting tooling and such for it soon. I decided I may as well have the 1st Okuma post on the forum. 😁

Congrats on the lathe. Sounds like you're about to get after it. While you're waiting has anyone ever mentioned how much we like pictures? Let's see this thing....

The area it is in my shop was a dirt floor when I bought the machine. Now it has a nice concrete floor with in-floor heat piping in it. I still need to insulate this section of the shop and eventually get the boiler etc. for the heat.

Congrats on the lathe. I was looking at one of these for my first lathe recently as well. Price was a little high and the guy wouldn't budge so I found a different one. Congrats!!

Where are you going to put the bar feeder? Punch a hole in the wall, and run it outside I guess.

Yep, if I get to where that is needed I'll make a hole with a door :D I just got word that it has power run to it so I may get to fire it up tonight and see if it has its memory still.

I powered it up and started getting things checked out. Spindle sounds great and the axis and turret all move. I am hoping to get it level tonight but we shall see. I'll have to order some jaws soon 😁
