Setting Renishaw probe diameter

Dumb question- anyone know how to set the probe tip diameter on a Brother C-00 control? It's got to be buried in a macro variable somewhere, but not sure where exactly.

I'd ask Yamazen directly, but I bought this machine used; the one bought new doesn't have a probe, and I've already bugged Yamazen a lot considering I didn't buy it from them...

Thanks.

That's what I'm looking for now. There's a GUI probe setting routine, but I'm not convinced it's setting the same variables as these macros from Yamazen are running off of. Haas is a lot better at pushing out info on that type of thing.

The true working diameter can only be found with a calibration routine since it takes into account the ball runout, especially at different orientations of the spindle.

Yamazen is there to be bugged, they owe you that much, to be honest. It would greatly surprise me if they don't have probe routines for your machine. The only way to find out is to ask. Also, if you bought the probe from Renishaw, they should have Inspection Plus for Brothers.

Practical Machinist user 2outof3 works for Yamazen, you might want to go there and private message him.

100% agree on the machine I bought from them, but this one didn't so I'm trying to temper the bugging. I hope to buy more from them in the future, but who knows when that will be. Yamazen just sent me all these probe routines that I'm trying to implement, and they helped me set up air blast a couple months ago (all for this used machine). 2outof3 helped me out with BrotherComm already, and I've talked to BrotherFrank as well.

I have probe routines for calibrating the probe on the C00. Want to send me your email? There's also a way to set the length. I don't know if BrotherFrank is a member here, but he's a great rep for Yamazen. He's also good a supporting needs like this.
You need a ring gauge of decent quality, good enough to support the accuracy you want to get out of the system.

Lot's of variables here. Don't worry about bugging Yamazen. We love to hear from our clients and an opportunity to assist is always welcomed. Does the machine have probing macros installed? Is it Renishaw or something else? It really depends on who set it up and what probe and macros they used. Is this a machine from Comatose? He or DavidN should know. Something I like to do to make sure the probe is functiong is I take off a side door and do a X or Y touch in the air with a large buffer distance, 5 inches or so, and then trigger it by hand to test.

Thanks for the offer, PM with email sent.

I talked to the Yamazen office and they sent over a bunch of programs, should be able to talk to a tech today or tomorrow. It is Renishaw probe, and is a machine from Comatose. He was using the graphical UI, it didn't seem to have any other macros installed. The graphical UI (which you get through going through MDI) does have a calibration function.

The probe does function fine, and with a little bit of post prossessor tweaking I was able to get some of the 88xx series macros that were sent to work for in-program probing. Z was perfect; X and Y were very precisely off by the probe tip radius, which made me think these macros were looking at some variable that the UI calibration didn't set.
