Why not create a drawing then you can add notes to the drawing...? Or are you trying to make it automatic with the CAM side?

I suppose I could do that. I am running SolidCAM and usually set the CAM files as internal to the part/assembly file.

I was just hoping for a simple txt file that I could make notes each time I run the parts. I'm sure there are lots of solutions to what I'm needing to do. It's just getting to the point where a fair amount of time is spent gathering hand written notes before running a part.

Two ways I can think of, not sure what licensing levels either are available at. We have SW premium and I am still on 2020.

The Markup tool is the most obvious way (and probably available at all licensing levels?), lets you put notes and hand drawn sketches on your model/assembly, probably on drawings too.

Second is with the MBD module which I am pretty sure is a licensed option so you may or may not have it, but it's basically solidworks' version of PMI.

I have parts and assemblies, I need to upgrade to Standard so I have drawings. As far as MBD Dimensions, I do have the tab and it works.

When I got Solidworks, I purchased it through SolidCam and was more concerned with getting all the CAM options I could afford than Solidworks options. Basically I got 2 axis lathe with sub and full 3D mill with every surfacing option they have 3+2. I think it's only $3500 to upgrade to full 5 axis simultaneous since I already have all the modules that are required for 5 axis......I'm just missing the machine :(

Upon further investigation it appears SolidCam has a function similar to what I am looking for in the setup sheet. I'm slapping myself for not checking earlier
