Shop I retired from 8 years ago had almost $1k/day for power. Last year I was there, the cost for 12 months was $356k. >200k square feet and 180 employees. 6000Amp 480V service. Some heavy duty shit.
Well that was 33x more building, 30x bigger elec service, and about 60x more man hours than what I'm doing. Doesnt seem too bad.

Just FYI. Not sure if anyone is interested in the quote from that one American made rotary phase converters. The 10hp was $3600, and the 3hp one was $2100.

A friend of mine just bought a new ADX-25 (25hp) within the last 2 weeks and it was $3200 delivered.

$2100 for a 3hp is beyond a ripoff. There are a few hundred in parts, max

Not trying to be a prick, but WTF kind of response is that? Do you have a solution or is that just your little rant? The issue isn't a simple as hp output. You need specific draw to and from the machine. If it's drawing xxkw it needs to be specific to that draw, plus provide the required hp.

Not a rant at all, that was my way of telling you that you may want to look elsewhere for a phase converter since 5hp units are commercially available for under $500.

I have zero financial interest in your purchase but I have built several converters so I have a good idea of what is inside them and what they are worth.

As far as draw, sizing, balance exc. At the end of the day none of that really matters unless you are running a CNC. It all sounds good on paper but a 1hp manual machine will run off a 50hp converter just fine.

If you overlook the start circuit all a rotary phase converter is, is a 3 phase motor running with some run capacitors hooked between the legs to balance the voltage. That's all there is to it.

Some companies may do some fancier things in an attempt to fine tune their units but in my experience it's not really needed.

Lookup Croman Converters. The owner's name is Jamie and he's a solid guy. His shop's about 15 miles from me and he builds, sells and ships a couple dozen RPC's a month.

16 years ago I bought a 30HP unit from him. Last year the caps were going out. I called him up, he said bring it right over. He put all new guts in it and I was on my way in 15 minutes at no charge.

20HP and free shipping for $1250 total. I would add the start/stop button option though.

20HP is the smallest RPC I would ever buy. Smaller than that and they don't work very good IMO.

My mistake. The quote was 3600 for ADX30 and 2100 for the ADX10. @Herding Cats your demeanor is condescending----stop that.

Edit; I digress. This is stressful shit for me. I appreciate your input.
