I would like them permanently stamped rather than the common vanishing laser markings.
Last I bought from Hardinge they shipped a collet and bushing set, smaller than 5c's in two separate boxes and charged me $45 for UPS ground for a 300 mile trip. I was shocked when I looked at the shipping charge.Hardinge?
I agree. Just for shits and giggles I just burnt a collet and then took some scotchbrite to it. It mostly took the factory marking off but the one I burnt you can still see and catch your nail on.Here's a pretty new 3J from Hardinge. The burn is pretty significant, I can catch a fingernail on it and can feel it with a fingertip. If you click the photo you can blow it up. This is for sale BTW

Yeah that sucks. Here is one I bought a few months ago and one I bought 35 years ago, can you spot the new one, it made about 500 4140 screws in a barfeed job during which there was a birdnest on the first part as my feed was slow and all the writing left. The old one has thousands of hours doing the same type of work. I find that I am a bit miffed at Hardinge just now.
No blizzard outside, just one between the ears but here are 200 elk trying to hop the fence and cross the highway in North Fork. oops

Last I checked S&M was making the Swiss collets I use to order and quoted 5-6 week lead time, so I started getting them from Hardinge. For swiss machines we always got collets from Southwick & Meister. Good stuff.
They show 5C on their website. No idea if engraved or etched though.
