If you don't need those hobs you might offer them to Ash gear. I sold a ton of shaper cutters to them back before Ebay existed.
Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know they buy hobs. I don't need any of these plus I have a pile of brand new sprocket hobs as well.

They deal in used cutters, for sale and for rent. If you have a one time job you can call them to rent a cutter for a month at a time, or they might have a used cutter to sell. I've done it a few times.

Nice machine! On my 7 the cutting oil pump is well worn. I flip the belt off and give it a spin with a drill and socket to prime it before I cut a gear. One day I might rebuild it.

I've got a good selection of change gears, but have bought a Cutter to make more.
Looks like yours has a riser fitted, be nice to have one on mine, it's a little bit tight setting up fixtures for the blanks.

Thanks! Good tip on the oil pump.

It has a 2" riser. I hope I don't need more.

I frequently wonder how people live with anything less than a 6" riser, so it's all perspective and whether it does the work you need it to, or not. Risers (while not blatantly in plain view) are available on the secondary market.
It does look the machine design would have made more sense to just add an extra 4" or 6" in there right? It's as if you had a CNC lathe with one tool that could only move an inch from the spindle face.

I do have some stock in thicker steel plates and a Blanchard grinder. It looks like there's a few shafts that would need lengthened and the belt guard redone. Quite a bit of work really, but not impossible.

A couple more inches of clearance would be welcome but I would be scared of the shipping cost of a riser to Australia!

Lucky the gears I make are only little things.

I have found that any time you use the gear shaper your hands get very oily, no way to avoid it with the continuous gravity assisted oiling system.😀
